I revisited my hometown of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania 🇹🇿 and decided to explore the country. Having come from London, UK 🇬🇧 where bus stations are easily accessible on Google and tickets can be purchased online, I looked up my journey to determine its duration and the bus departure location. Surprisingly, Google yielded no results and I couldn't find information about the stops from Dar es Salaam to my destination📍. I set out to find where I could purchase a ticket 💷 and locate the bus 🚌. To my amazement, I discovered that I needed to trek to the ticket booking station and then navigate to the bus station. I relied on the help of people I met along the way to direct me to the ticket booking station and the bus station.
Upon reaching the ticket office, the attendant diligently wrote down my ticket details on a piece of paper and handed it to me. As I received it, I couldn't help but wonder how they prevented duplicate seat assignments and managed the numerous tickets they had sold. Arriving at the bus station, I was overwhelmed by the confusion, wasted time, uncertainty about arrival, lack of ticket cost information, limited transportation options, and overall disorganization. These experiences sparked the idea that ultimately led to the creation of Safiri.
We've made great progress since then. We've established partnerships with over 💯 transit operators in Tanzania, including Tashriff Luxury Coach, Isamilo Express, Satco Express, and many other fantastic companies. You can now conveniently book tickets for all of them through our app. The digital ticket we provide will be valid for travel with our partners, eliminating the need to search for a ticket office or worry about the whereabouts and arrival times of your transportation.
